1998/YOSAKOI Projects Committee1998/YOSAKOI Projects Committee (Office: Kochi Systems Co., Ltd.; Kochi; President Mr.Toshiaki Yoshinaga) announced several projects, including a live Internet broadcast of the Kochi Yosakoi Festival, which will be held in Kochi, Japan. The live Internet broadcast will take place with the cooperation of RKC Kochi Broadcasting Corp. and Kikuchi seminar at Kochi University. The broadcast is supported by Kochi prefecture, Kochi Tourist League and Kochi Sightseeing Association. 1998/YOSAKOI Projects Announcement
The 45th Yosakoi Festival is held for four days from Aug.9 to Aug.12 every year. Recently a similar festival, the Yosakoi Soran Festival held in Sapporo, Hokkaido, so this has become famous in Japan. One of the most important items for the Yosakoi Festival is Naruko(Clappers) which dancers carry in their hands. People dance in Kochi city from street to street using the music of Yosakoi-bushi(an ancient ballad in Kochi). Nowadays not only traditional sounds but also Rock'n Roll and Samba styled music is used for the festival and the use of very colorful costumes attracts people. Old and young, men and women participate in this festival together.
This festival will be broadcast on television by RKC Kochi Broadcasting Corp.(Kochi, President Mr.Sachio Yoshimura) in Kochi on Aug.10 and Aug.11. The images and sounds of this TV program will also be broadcast over the Internet with the cooperation of RKC. To view the TV image via the Internet you should use RealSystem which was developed by RealNetworlks, Inc. RealSystem can be downloaded freely from the Internet and copies are available from recent CD-ROMs which are sold with Internet related magazines.
NTT DoCoMo Shikoku(Takamatsu, Kanagawa prefecture; president Mr.Toshihiko Egaki) introduce the festival with mobile data transfer system with the project. Using MobileView which was developed by NTT DoCoMo, we will provide image and sound which is taken by a video camera. MobileView is the system that you can carry to take image and sound so you can send the aspect of the city to them vividly. The camera will move around at several dancing spots and on a Jikatasha(PA car) of NTT DoCoMo team. The image from Jikatasha is quit new to the people so it gives them interesting impression.
